COURSE OBJECTIVES

Course Title: Vulnerability Assessments in the Community

Target Audience: Active Police Officers and Community members

Length of Training: Eight Hours (8hrs.) Annual In-service Credit

Delivery Format: Interactive/Lecture

Course Purpose: The objectives of the course are as follows: to train law enforcement officers and law enforcement supervisors in the concepts of conducting vulnerability assessments on critical facilities within their jurisdictions. This includes identifying possible weaknesses to terrorist attack and suggested preventative measures.

At the completion of this eight-hour block of instruction, the student should have an understanding of:

  • Determine facilities that pose a suitable target for terrorist attack
  • Be familiar with the vulnerability assessment process and areas to be evaluated
  • Identify specific vulnerable areas at a facility, which are at risk of attack
  • Evaluate protective measures that are in place at facilities within their jurisdiction
  • Provide suggestions for improvement of current protective measures to reduce the vulnerability of terrorist attack to facilities within their jurisdiction
